It was 6.30pm on a Wednesday and even though we were promised a rainless afternoon, it hadn't stopped raining! Ray and I were seated there commenting on the recent golf, waiting around for the seventh job to come in. Finally we had the phone call from a lovely woman on a company excursion who had gone to the Esso filling garage in Nutley and filled petrol in a diesel grey Kia Soul lease car in error. The unfortunate lady was fairly affected apparently, telling me "I just can't believe that I've messed up the vehicle! I am just so used to filling up my petrol car that I had did not remember that I was driving a diesel!" I just asked her to calm down and not to worry, and that such things sadly can happen. She had managed to move the vehicle to a safe spot and, because it was only a few minutes away from where we were, we were able to reach the woman rather quickly. The contaminated fuel was extracted and she was able to get back to the Premier Inn she was lodging in. Despite the fact we got fairly wet, it was all worth the time to watch her drive away relaxed and not so worried. A fuel drain in East Sussex done well in my opinion!
